Yes, plain old boring water. We’ve had it drummed into us for so long that we should be drinking at least eight glasses a day. Not all at once I should add but throughout the day. The benefits of drinking water are blindingly obvious, like the biggest one of all, staying alive.
Well, you might say that’s old news, not hard to do and I guess I can easily manage to do that, but in reality how many of us actually do? Precious few so the experts say, and I myself used to fall into that category.
But, think about it a little bit harder and all you need to do is to have a bottle of filtered water on your desk and a small glass. I used to get up from my desk whenever I felt thirsty and put on the kettle to make some tea as I admit I’m a big fan of tea and I can easily drink several cups of tea a day. In fact when I get up in the morning I need at least two cups to get me moving and kick-start my day.
Those of us who are a little bit clued up will say, hold on but tea is supposed to be a diuretic, which basically means it causes you to run to the bathroom to relieve yourself. Yes that’s true but I still count that as fluid intake in my book, although some may disagree and say that you ought to just drink pure water.
Maybe we’re splitting hairs here and the point of fluid consumption versus water consumption is best left for another day. But, let’s not stray from the core argument of the importance of drinking water. Personally speaking, I probably still go the bathroom the same number of times when I just consume water. Still, I’m sure my personal habits such as these are of zero interest to anyone else except myself.
The undeniable facts are that our bodily functions rely on this liquid flowing through our bodies and increasing your intake has seen reductions in such conditions as migraine, headaches and high blood pressure. I’ve also noticed that if I feel a bit hungry and drink a couple of glasses of water my hunger for some food diminishes, often quite soon.
Who needs expensive and complicated diet plans, just stick to the liquid stuff with zero calories. For those of you who would like to know where you can find some of the best water filters around that have a solid reputation, see my main water site.
